Man City vs Arsenal: Gary Neville in shock after seeing Paul Scholes prediction

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes left his long-time colleague Gary Neville momentarily speechless after making a striking prediction about this weekend’s pivotal Premier League clash between Manchester City and Arsenal.

The highly anticipated fixture at the Etihad Stadium could prove decisive in shaping the outcome of the title race, with Arsenal currently sitting at the top of the table.

Mikel Arteta’s side hold a six-point advantage over the reigning champions, but that lead is far from secure given the contrasting form of the two teams.

While Arsenal have struggled to maintain consistency in recent weeks, City appear to be peaking at just the right moment under the guidance of Pep Guardiola.

The Cityzens have strung together three consecutive victories across all competitions, including an impressive 2-0 triumph over Arsenal in the Carabao Cup final.

That result has only added to the growing belief that momentum is firmly on City’s side heading into Sunday’s encounter.

Compounding Arsenal’s concerns is the fact that City still have a game in hand, meaning the gap at the top could quickly shrink.

Arsenal’s recent form has raised alarm bells among supporters, with just one win from their last five matches. Their most recent league outing ended in a disappointing 2-1 home defeat to Bournemouth, a result that has intensified scrutiny on their ability to sustain a title challenge.

City’s momentum vs Arsenal’s fragile form

The narrative heading into the weekend is one of shifting confidence. Arsenal, who have spent much of the season setting the pace, now find themselves under increasing pressure as City close in.

Neville, offering his assessment on The Overlap’s Stick to Football podcast, took a more cautious view of the contest.

Expecting a tightly fought battle, he predicted that neither side would be able to gain the upper hand.

“I think it’s going to be a draw on Sunday and I think it’ll be 1-1,” he said.

His prediction reflected the significance of the occasion, with both teams aware that a defeat could have major implications for their title ambitions.

A draw, in Neville’s view, would keep the race finely balanced while avoiding a potentially damaging setback.

Scholes’ bold call leaves Neville stunned

Scholes, however, had a very different outlook — one that caught Neville completely off guard.

Confident in City’s current form and ability, he dismissed the idea of a close contest and instead forecast a commanding victory for the Sky Blues.

“I think City will win easily.

“Just comfortable. Unless they get someone sent off or something stupid. I think they’ll win comfortably. Two or three [nil].”

His emphatic prediction immediately drew a stunned reaction from Neville, who could only respond with visible disbelief.

“Wow… wow!”

With Guardiola’s side combining experience, depth, and momentum, many believe they are well-equipped to capitalise on any slip from Arsenal.
