Another Premier League club have intensified their pursuit of Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali after reportedly submitting a bid worth £75 million for the Italian international.
Tottenham Hotspur are eager to strengthen their midfield options ahead of the new campaign and have identified Tonali as one of their primary transfer targets.
Reports suggest Tottenham’s interest has grown significantly in recent weeks, leading them to formally open discussions over a potential transfer.
The 26-year-old has attracted attention from several leading clubs across England.
Arsenal, Manchester United and Manchester City have all been credited with monitoring the midfielder’s situation, highlighting the high regard in which he is held across European football.
Earlier in the transfer window, Tottenham were said to have contacted Tonali’s representatives to explore the possibility of a move.
At that stage, discussions centred on the player’s position and ambitions rather than a direct approach to Newcastle.
However, negotiations have now progressed, with Spurs making their first substantial offer to test Newcastle’s resolve.
According to reports from Italy, Tottenham’s proposal currently stands at £75 million.
Newcastle, however, are reluctant to part with one of their most influential midfielders and have reportedly responded by valuing the player at £85 million.
While there remains a gap between the two clubs’ valuations, there is growing belief that a compromise could eventually be reached.
Sources indicate that an agreement around the £80 million mark may satisfy both parties, with talks expected to continue in the coming days.
A key factor behind Tottenham’s interest is the admiration of head coach Roberto De Zerbi, who has followed Tonali’s development since the midfielder first emerged in Italian football.

The Tottenham boss previously revealed that he had hoped to work with Tonali during his coaching career and made no secret of his admiration for the player.
“I wanted to bring Tonali to Sassuolo, if I’d stayed, after his first year at AC Milan,” De Zerbi said during his time at Brighton.
“I said, ‘maybe they’ll fall for it and I’ll bring him here’. I saw him at Brescia and thought he was the player he proved to be.”
Manchester City reportedly want to sign the Newcastle midfielder
Tonali has been linked with a move to Manchester City in recent weeks. The Cityzens reportedly want to bring him to Etihad as the club embark on reinforcement following the departure of Bernardo Silva and other first team players.
According to report, City pursuit of Elliot Anderson would not affect their interest in Tonali and are opened to negotiating with Newcastle United.
