Key Man City player returns to training ahead of Arsenal match

Manchester City have been handed a timely lift ahead of their highly anticipated Premier League meeting with Arsenal, as top player returned to training following the recent injury scare.

Pep Guardiola’s side produced an assured display in their 3-0 victory at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, but the win was not without concern.

Nico O’Reilly was forced off during the second half after appearing to sustain a hamstring problem, briefly casting doubt over his availability for one of the season’s defining fixtures.

The England international was withdrawn in the 64th minute and replaced by Rayan Ait-Nouri, with City opting not to take any risks.

At the time, there was uncertainty surrounding the extent of the issue, and no immediate update was provided on his condition.

However, there are now encouraging signs for City supporters. According to reports from The Times, O’Reilly was involved in a light recovery session with his teammates on Monday, less than 24 hours after the Chelsea match.

The squad subsequently began a scheduled short break, with players given two days off before preparations resume in full for Arsenal’s visit to the Etihad Stadium.

While his participation in that session does not guarantee his availability, it does suggest that the injury may not be as serious as initially feared.

City are expected to make a late decision on whether O’Reilly is fit enough to feature in Sunday’s encounter.

Hamstring injuries can often lead to extended periods on the sidelines, particularly if the damage is significant, but early indications point towards a more minor issue.

City’s medical staff will continue to monitor his condition closely in the coming days, balancing the importance of the Arsenal fixture with the need to avoid aggravating the injury.

O’Reilly becoming an important City player

O’Reilly has been an influential figure for City this season, contributing consistently in midfield and playing a key role in their push for domestic success.

His energy, technical quality and tactical awareness have made him a trusted option for Guardiola in high-stakes matches.

As such, his potential absence would represent a significant setback. Facing an Arsenal side that has developed into one of the most formidable teams in the league, City will be keen to have their strongest possible lineup available.
