Manchester United and Manchester City eye Pavlovic Aleksandra and are reportedly set for another fierce transfer showdown for Bayern Munich’s rising star.
According to reports from Germany, both Premier League giants are keeping close tabs on the 21-year-old midfielder, whose rapid rise in Bavaria has made him one of the most sought-after young players in Europe.
A product of Bayern’s youth academy, Pavlović has impressed since breaking into the first team early in the 2023–24 campaign. He has already made 62 appearances across all competitions, showcasing composure, versatility, and maturity beyond his years.
Under new manager Vincent Kompany, the Germany international has developed into a key figure in Bayern’s midfield, earning praise for his ability to dictate play and maintain balance in the centre of the pitch. His consistent performances have now caught the attention of the two Manchester clubs, both of whom are planning midfield reinforcements.
United step up pursuit amid midfield reshuffle
Manchester United, still searching for long-term stability in midfield, have been linked with several targets since the summer. Their failed pursuit of Brighton & Hove Albion’s Carlos Baleba earlier this year highlighted Ruben Amorim’s desire to inject youth and dynamism into the centre of the park.
According to BILD, United have now turned their attention to Pavlović and are believed to have already made initial contact with his representatives. The 21-year-old’s ability to operate as a deep-lying playmaker, combined with his defensive awareness, makes him an attractive option for a side looking to rebuild under Ruben Amorim.
United’s recruitment team reportedly see Pavlović as a player who could complement the likes of Kobbie Mainoo and Bruno Fernandes, offering balance and control in high-pressure games. However, securing his signature will be far from straightforward.
Manchester City eye Pavlović as Rodri’s long-term successor
Manchester City eye Pavlovic and are said to be leading the race for his signature. Sources in Germany suggest that the treble winners have placed him high on their transfer wish list, with growing uncertainty surrounding the future of Rodri.

The Spanish midfielder, who remains one of Guardiola’s most important players, is under contract until 2027. City made it clear over the summer that they would like to offer Rodri fresh terms.
According to report, City have begin exploring a replacement for Rodri amid his recent injury concerns — and Pavlović fits their profile perfectly. His technical ability, press resistance, and intelligence on the ball align with Guardiola’s philosophy, while his age means he could develop into a central figure for years to come.
A report from Spain has speculated that Pavlović’s market value could be around €50 million (£43.6 million, $58.6 million). However, Bayern are expected to demand a significantly higher fee before considering any sale. With five years remaining on his contract, the Bundesliga champions hold all the negotiating power.
For City, the pursuit of Pavlović is seen as part of a long-term strategy to ensure depth and continuity in midfield. While Guardiola’s side remain dominant domestically and in Europe, the club are aware that Rodri’s potential injury could leave a major gap.
Pavlović’s development in the Bundesliga has made him a standout candidate, though sources close to the player stress that he is not currently seeking an exit. Bayern, too, have no intention of entertaining offers at this stage, particularly with Kompany eager to build a new-generation core around talents like Pavlović and Jamal Musiala.
