Manchester City are still active in the summer transfer market, with Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma emerging as their latest target.
The Premier League champions have already strengthened their squad with a defender, two goalkeepers, and midfield additions earlier in the window. But with first-choice keeper Ederson Moraes linked to a move away, Pep Guardiola’s side are looking for a high-profile replacement.
Reports suggest Ederson is in talks with Galatasaray, which could open the door for Donnarumma to join City. The Italian shot-stopper is reportedly keen on the move and would welcome the chance to work under Guardiola.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claims PSG are now willing to accept a reduced fee to let Donnarumma leave. The French club had initially demanded €50m, but they are prepared to negotiate closer to €30m. Talks between the two clubs are expected to progress quickly, with a deal potentially being finalised in the coming days.
Crystal Palace Move For Akanji
In another Man City transfer update, defender Manuel Akanji has attracted strong interest from Crystal Palace.
The Swiss international has been linked with several clubs this summer, with Galatasaray also keeping tabs on him. However, Palace are now considered one of the frontrunners to sign the centre-back, who could be tempted by more regular first-team football.
The decision to release some players this summer could be linked to Pep Guardiola’s rejection of a big squad. The Spaniard has on different occasions claimed that he would not be able to work with a large squad players.
“We need a little bit (fewer numbers). I don’t like (having lots) of players. A lot of players should leave,” Guardiola said while speaking ahead of a friendly game against Palermo.
“The transfer window is moving a lot and many things are going to happen. We’ll see what happens and how we will handle it,” Guardiola added.
Since he made the statement, Jack Grealish has joined Everton on a season long loan, while James McAtee was sold to Nottingham Forest. Many players are also expected to leave the club in the coming days
