Pep Guardiola is not finished with his summer transfer plans as Manchester City target Gianluigi Donnarumma and willing to bring him to England.
The Premier League giants have been active in the transfer window, strengthening their squad for the new season. They have already added two goalkeepers, Marcus Bettinelli from Chelsea and James Trafford, who returned to the club from Burnley.
This has increased the number of goalkeepers in the team, but it is expected that some familiar faces will leave in the coming days.
Ederson Moraes, the club’s long-time first-choice goalkeeper, and his backup, Stefan Ortega, have both been linked with moves away from the Etihad this summer.
Rumours suggest they could soon be on their way to new clubs. If they leave, Guardiola wants Donnarumma as a replacement.
Pep Guardiola Wants To Sign Gianluigi Donnarumma
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed that Manchester City target Gianluigi Donnarumma because he is one of Guardiola’s favourite goalkeepers.
The Spanish coach would be eager to sign him if the chance comes before the transfer window closes. Due to his skill with the ball at his feet, Donnarumma is seen as a good fit for Guardiola’s style.
Gianluigi Donnarumma Wants To Leave PSG, Fabrizio Romano Confirms
Romano also confirmed that Donnarumma is ready to leave PSG. He explained that the relationship between the Italian goalkeeper and the French club has “completely broken.”
According to him, Donnarumma is frustrated because PSG recently signed another goalkeeper, Lucas Chevalier. The new signing is set to become Luis Enrique’s first choice.
Speaking on his TikTok account, Romano said: “It’s over between Donnarumma and Paris Saint-Germain. The club decided to exclude the goalkeeper from the squad against Tottenham.
“The relationship is completely broken. Donnarumma is disappointed with Paris Saint-Germain because the club already signed another goalkeeper, Lucas Chevalier – who is going to be the new number one for Luis Enrique.
“So Donnarumma is leaving. It could be next summer as a free agent but also in this final 20 days of the market – in case of a good proposal. There is interest, especially from the Premier League. So keep an eye on Donnarumma because there could be movements very soon.”
He, however, claimed that if his situation at PSG does not change, Donnarumma could leave for free next summer when his contract, which has one year remaining, expires.
Meanwhile, Manchester City could sign more players as Jack Grealish leave the club on a season long loan
