31 Players Left Manchester City But Guardiola Signed 7 Talents; See Full List

At least 31 players left Manchester City this summer, making it one of the busiest transfer windows for the Premier League giants in recent years.

Pep Guardiola oversaw a dramatic overhaul of his squad, with several high-profile exits and the arrival of new signings to strengthen key positions.

The Sky Blues, fresh from a disastrous season in English football, are reshaping their team to regain control in competitiveness across domestic and European competitions.

While some departures were expected, others came as a shock to fans, with notable names heading out on either permanent deals or loans.

At the same time, seven new faces have arrived to bolster Guardiola’s squad.

Manchester City Sign Seven New Players

Despite the large number of exits, Guardiola ensured quality reinforcements came through the door.

Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma was the headline arrival, costing City £26m. He joined a revamped goalkeeping department that also welcomed James Trafford from Burnley for £27m and Marcus Bettinelli from Chelsea for an undisclosed fee.

In midfield, Lyon’s Rayan Cherki arrived for £35m, while AC Milan’s Tijjani Reijnders was signed for £46.3m in one of the biggest deals of City’s summer.

Wolverhampton Wanderers left-back Rayan Aït-Nouri joined for £31.2m, and teenage Norwegian talent Sverre Nypan signed from Rosenborg for £12.5m.

These new arrivals come on top of the winter additions of Omar Marmoush, Viktor Reis, and Khusanov, as City continue to invest heavily in securing the next generation of footballing stars.

Over 30 Players Left Manchester City

While Guardiola added seven fresh faces, more than 30 players left Manchester City in a massive squad reshuffle.

Some departures were permanent sales, others were loan moves to aid development, while a handful of players were released after their contracts expired.

Among the most notable exits was midfielder James McAtee, who joined Nottingham Forest in a £30m move. Jack Grealish departed on loan to Everton in a surprise switch, while long-serving goalkeeper Ederson left for Fenerbahce in a £12m transfer. ÌIKay Gündogan left for Galatasaray for free

Defender Manuel Akanji secured a loan move to Inter Milan, and highly rated youngster Claudio Echeverri went to Bayer Leverkusen on loan.

Other significant sales included Callum Doyle to Wrexham for £7.5m, Farid Alfa-Ruprecht to Leverkusen for £5m, Yan Couto to Borussia Dortmund for £26m, Maximo Perrone to Como for £11.2m, and Kyle Walker to Burnley in a deal worth up to £5m.

Perhaps the most emotional departure was Kevin De Bruyne, who left the club to join Napoli on a free transfer. Veteran goalkeeper Scott Carson also exited after reaching the end of his contract.

City’s younger prospects were also on the move, with several loan spells confirmed.

Sverre Nypan, despite being signed, was immediately loaned to Middlesbrough. Other loanees include Juma Bah (Nice), Jacob Wright (Norwich, £2.3m), Divin Mubama (Stoke), Finley Burns (Reading), Oliver Whatmuff (Rochdale), Tomas Galvez (Cambuu), Joel Ndala (Hull), Jahmai Simpson-Pusey (Celtic), and Vitor Reis (Girona).

The list continues with True Grant (Stoke, undisclosed), Max Alleyne (Watford), Mahamadou Susoho (Livingston), Lakyle Samuel (Bromley), Will Dickson (Chesterfield), Issa Kabore (Wrexham), and Jayden Lienou (Leeds, undisclosed). Others such as Tai Sodje were released entirely.
