Man City Injury News Vs Tottenham: Pep Guardiola Without Five Players

Manchester City host Tottenham Hotspur at the Etihad Stadium in their first home game of the season. Both sides made winning starts last weekend and will be keen to maintain momentum.

City cruised past Wolverhampton Wanderers 4-0 in their opener. Pep Guardiola’s side controlled the game from start to finish, reminding fans of the dominant team that swept through past years.

Tijjani Reijnders was named Player of the Match after scoring and assisting. Erling Haaland grabbed a brace, while Rayan Cherki sealed the victory with a late strike.

With both teams starting strong, Saturday’s clash promises to be a thrilling contest.

Man City Injury News

Pep Guardiola faces a selection headache ahead of the game, with at least five players unavailable through injury.

Josko Gvardiol remains sidelined. The Croatian defender, voted Manchester City’s 2024/25 Etihad Player of the Season ahead of Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland, has yet to play this term. Although he returned to training this week, he is not expected to be risked.

Midfielder Mateo Kovacic is also set to miss out as he recovers from a calf problem. The former Chelsea star is not yet ready for action and may need more time to regain full fitness.

Brazilian winger Savinho is another absentee. Guardiola recently confirmed the attacker will be out “for some time” and is unlikely to be available for the Spurs clash.

Kalvin Phillips and goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli complete the list of players ruled out.

Possible Injury Boosts

There could be some positive news, though. Phil Foden is in line to make his first competitive appearance of the campaign, while Rodri is also pushing for minutes as he builds up fitness.

Guardiola will need his squad depth to shine, with a big test against a Tottenham side that also looks sharp.
