Predicted Man City line-up vs Everton: Foden, Savinho set to miss out

Manchester City head into another decisive weekend in the Premier League title race knowing the margins are tightening.

City’s advantage of a game in hand keeps them firmly in control of their destiny, and history suggests they are more than capable of surging past their rivals when it matters most.

The possibility that the title could once again be decided on goal difference adds another layer of urgency. Manchester City would have expected a more emphatic outcome in their last league outing, where they edged past Burnley by a narrow 1-0 scoreline.

Though Erling Haaland struck early—finding the net within five minutes—the performance lacked the cutting edge typically associated with Pep Guardiola’s side.

Facing Everton next, City are likely to approach the fixture with renewed intent. Not only is victory essential, but a convincing one could prove crucial in the final reckoning.

With that in mind, Guardiola is expected to recall several key players who were rested during the FA Cup victory over Southampton.

Despite featuring in that cup tie, Phil Foden may find himself sidelined for this encounter.

The England international has struggled to replicate his best form this season, and the physical demands posed by a David Moyes-drilled Everton side could influence Guardiola’s selection.

As a result, City could opt for a more robust and direct attacking setup.

Defensive solidity and midfield control

In goal, James Trafford played against the Saints in the FA Cup semi-final, but Gianluigi Donnarumma is City’s first choice when it comes to Premier League action.

The Italian goalkeeper’s presence offers both assurance and experience, qualities that are invaluable at this stage of the campaign.

At right-back, Matheus Nunes has been a reliable right-back for City all season. His adaptability has proven useful, allowing Guardiola tactical flexibility without sacrificing defensive stability.

The centre-back pairing continues to evolve. Abdukodir Khusanov had one of the worst Premier League debuts ever, a bad mistake leading to a goal for Chelsea, and then a booking. However, he has bounced back from this and is one of the first names on Guardiola’s team sheet.

Alongside him, consistency has been key: Since arriving from Crystal Palace, Marc Guéhi has played every single minute for City in the Premier League.

On the left side of defence, selection could be influenced by attacking intent. Nico O’Reilly could start this game at left back ahead of Rayan Aït-Nouri, as the Englishman will offer more of a threat going forward.

Against a compact Everton setup, that additional attacking outlet may be crucial.

Midfield balance remains central to City’s approach. With O’Reilly potentially filling in at left-back, Guardiola will be hoping that Rodri is back fit to sure up their midfield.

The Spaniard’s ability to dictate tempo and shield the defence has often been the foundation of City’s success. If Rodri returns, it could unlock greater attacking freedom elsewhere.

If Rodri is back in the team, it will allow Bernardo Silva to have much more of a lease going forward. The Portuguese midfielder thrives when given license to roam, linking play and creating opportunities in advanced areas.

Attacking options without Foden and Savinho

Further forward, creativity will be essential in breaking down Everton’s defensive structure. That description fits Rayan Cherki, whose flair and unpredictability could prove decisive.

On the right flank, Antoine Semenyo joined City from Bournemouth in January and has scored five goals with one assist in 12 league games for Guardiola’s side.

However, he has not had a goal involvement in his last four matches in the division. This needs improving if he is to keep his place in the side.

His recent dip in output will be a concern, but his pace and directness still offer a threat.

Leading the line, there is little doubt about who will start. Omar Marmoush started against Southampton, but Erling Haaland will no doubt return for this matchup with Everton.

The Norwegian striker’s goal-scoring instincts remain central to City’s title push.

Jeremy Doku is expected to return to the starting XI to complete the front three which has dominated many opponents this season.

Predicted Man City lineup vs Everton: Donnarumma; Nunes, Khusanov, Guéhi, O’Reilly; Rodri, Silva; Cherki; Semenyo, Haaland, Doku
