Pep Guardiola may currently be working with the most in-form winger, according to a former Manchester City favourite who believes Jeremy Doku is the best winger in Europe and has elevated his game beyond that of several established stars across the continent.
The Belgian international has been one of Manchester City’s defining performers this season, lighting up games with a combination of raw pace, fearless dribbling, and a growing understanding of the tactical demands placed on him by Guardiola.
At only 23, Doku has swiftly become a central figure for the Sky Blues at a time when the squad has faced reshuffles, evolving systems, and key absences in the forward line.
His arrival at the club a few seasons ago was met with excitement, but few anticipated how quickly he would rise from promising wide option to one of Guardiola’s most reliable attacking weapons.
His direct approach has provided a fresh dimension to a City side that often relies on calculated control. Instead, Doku brings unpredictability—something that has regularly tilted matches in City’s favour.
Over the course of the campaign, his influence has grown steadily. Each match has showcased a player refining his decision-making, balancing flair with final-third intelligence.
His confidence in one-on-one situations has been particularly valuable for a team that frequently faces compact defences determined to limit space.
Within the club, there is a swelling sense that Doku is becoming indispensable.
His partnership with Erling Haaland has helped unlock defences with greater frequency, while his understanding with Phil Foden in the half-spaces has added new layers to City’s attacking rhythm.
What once looked like flashes of potential has matured into consistency—a trait that often distinguishes the elite from the merely talented.
“The Best in Europe” — City Legend’s High Praise for Doku
Speaking in a new interview with Best Betting Bonuses, former Manchester City forward Paul Dickov was asked to assess whether the 23-year-old had emerged as the Premier League’s leading winger this season.
In response, Dickov didn’t hesitate to claim that Jeremy Doku is the best winger in Europe and among the elite—not just domestically, but across European football.
“I’d say he’s probably the best in Europe at the minute. Not just of his performance against Liverpool, which was top drawer, but I said before that despite Erling Haaland’s goals, Doku has consistently been City’s best player and biggest threat,” said Dickov.
The former Scotland international highlighted how Doku’s progress has silenced initial doubts about his productivity in the final third—a common criticism when he first arrived in England.
According to Dickov, the winger has addressed those concerns through dedication, greater composure, and improved end product.
He continued, “People were forgetting last season, questioning his end product a little. And maybe he was doing all these dribbles and playing at a mile-a-minute.

“Maybe his crossing and finishing suffered, but he’s worked so hard at his game. He’s only 23, a young boy, and just impossible to defend against when one on one.
“Even when Liverpool were trying to double up on him, two on one, he was still beating both defenders as if they weren’t there.
The problem he has now is the standard he played at [vs Liverpool], people are going to expect that every week from him, which is going to be difficult.
“But at the minute, off the top of my head, I can’t think of a better winger in Europe, never mind in the Premier League.”
Dickov’s comments reflect a wider belief that Doku is pushing into the upper echelon of European attackers—a group typically dominated by players from Real Madrid, Arsenal, Bayern Munich, and Paris Saint-Germain.
Yet Doku’s impact at City has been so pronounced that he is now being mentioned above such counterparts.
