Expert Reveals Two Players Who Can Solve Man City’s Problems

Manchester City’s campaign has already hit turbulence just three games into the new Premier League season. The Sky Blues, who were expected to dominate from the start, have only collected three points from their opening nine.

After brushing aside Wolverhampton Wanderers in convincing fashion on the opening weekend, Pep Guardiola’s side have stumbled to back-to-back defeats against Tottenham Hotspur and Brighton & Hove Albion.

The early setback has reignited conversations about weaknesses in the squad, and whether the Cityzens have done enough in the transfer market to sustain another season of dominance.

For a team that prides itself on control and consistency, these recent results underline lingering issues that were visible in the second part of last season.

One man who believes there is a straightforward solution to Man City’s problems is former player and manager, Neil Warnock.

Speaking to talkSPORT after City’s defeat at Brighton, Warnock pointed to two key figures who, in his view, could transform Guardiola’s fortunes.

Rodri Will Make A Difference, His Return Is Key To Stability – Warnock Said

For the past few years, Rodri has been a central figure in Guardiola’s tactical setup, offering composure, balance, and control at the heart of midfield.

However, the Spanish international’s absence through injury during a crucial stage of last season exposed City’s vulnerability.

Without him, the team often lacked rhythm and protection, leading to dropped points in matches people expected to win.

Warnock believes Rodri’s presence will be essential if City are to recover quickly from their shaky start.

“Rodri… I mean, Rodri makes a difference,” he said. “And you look at some of the forward play and, I mean, I’m quite excited with the forward play.”

Rodri’s return to fitness offers Guardiola a solution to restore balance in midfield, shielding the defence and allowing the creative players to thrive.

Therefore, if he can stay injury-free, his leadership in midfield could provide the foundation City desperately need to turn results around.

Donnarumma Could Add Defensive Assurance

Alongside Rodri’s influence, Warnock also pointed to goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma as a player capable of addressing Man City’s problems.

His arrival would represent more than just a marquee signing. According to Warnock, Donnarumma’s presence could inject authority and calmness into a defensive unit that has looked uncharacteristically fragile.

“I think the goalkeeper will make such a difference, honestly, and that’s what this lad does,” Warnock noted.

Also, Donnarumma’s reputation as a commanding figure in goal could provide added competition and perhaps a different dimension to City’s backline.
