Prince William drops unexpected four-word comment about Man City Player after FA Cup win

Manchester City’s latest visit to Wembley ended in familiar fashion, with silverware once again heading back to the Etihad Stadium and the sense that winning finals has become routine under Pep Guardiola.

The FA Cup final against Chelsea produced another tight, controlled performance from City, who secured a 1-0 victory to add yet another trophy to an already crowded collection.

In the stands and later on the pitch, there was also a familiar figure observing proceedings closely.

Prince William, who serves as President and Patron of the FA, was present to carry out his customary pre- and post-match duties, greeting both sets of players before kick-off and returning after the final whistle to present medals and offer congratulations.

City’s dominance over recent seasons was not lost on the royal guest, who took a light-hearted approach as he moved through the presentation line.

As Guardiola collected yet another FA Cup winners’ medal, Prince William could not resist acknowledging the repeated success.

With a smile, he remarked: “Another one, hey!” before adding, “Congratulations Pep, well done.”

The moment captured the wider narrative surrounding City’s era of success under Guardiola, who has turned Wembley appearances into near-annual appointments.

The Catalan coach has now guided the club to three FA Cup triumphs, alongside multiple domestic honours including five Carabao Cup wins and six Premier League titles, building a dynasty that continues to define English football’s modern era.

There was also a personal touch in the royal exchange, with attention turning to one of City’s longest-serving figures.

Defender John Stones, who has been part of every major trophy win under Guardiola, received individual recognition from Prince William.

As Stones prepared for what could be his final appearance in City colours, the royal addressed him directly, saying “Another one, well done”.

Stones, who has been central to City’s defensive evolution since arriving at the club, was not involved on the pitch for the final but remained an important presence in the squad.

Alongside him in a similar position was teammate Bernardo Silva, who started the match as captain but later joined Stones in lifting the trophy at Wembley.

Both players, aged 31, represent a rare constant in Guardiola’s ever-evolving squad. Having joined in 2016 and 2017 respectively, they have been part of every major title run during the manager’s reign.

However, both are now expected to depart the club at the end of June when their contracts expire, marking the end of an era for two of the most decorated players in City’s modern history.

City’s win over Chelsea followed a disappointing defeat at Wembley 12 months earlier, when they were beaten by Crystal Palace.

This time, there was no repeat of that outcome. A disciplined performance was ultimately decided by a second-half goal from Antoine Semenyo, enough to secure victory in a tightly contested final.

The result also keeps City firmly in contention for further honours this season. They return to league action against Bournemouth on Tuesday, with their campaign concluding at home against Aston Villa.

However, their hopes of retaining the Premier League crown are no longer entirely in their own hands.

Manchester City sit two points behind leaders Arsenal, meaning they must rely on the Gunners dropping points in either of their remaining fixtures against Burnley or Crystal Palace if they are to mount a successful title defence.

The final weeks of the season therefore carry significance beyond the FA Cup triumph, with every remaining result potentially decisive.
